I began teaching Pilates in 2002, and have been lucky enough to teach full time for the last 18 years. I began my certification and education with PhysicalMind Institute, based out of Santa Fe, New Mexico. All my education from then on has been with The Pilates Center, based out of Boulder, Colorado. I finished my Master’s Certification with TPC in 2008 and continue with Master classes for continuing education. I am Classically trained and believe that Mr. Pilates’ system is genius and complete on its own. I have worked with every body type, injury, limitation, surgery, and prosthetic replacement you can imagine, adhering to Mr. Pilates’ principals but allowing for the necessary modifications. I am suited and able to work with all ages, from teen equestrians to octogenarians seeking gentle movement, core engagement, and better balance. I am educated in muscle testing, meridian line channels, kinetic chain patterns…
I began my Ortho practice in 2011. After my second child was born I was longing to get my brain to work again and decided to enroll myself in an Anatomy and Physiology class through CMC. After the class was completed I knew that I wanted to study more of how the body works at a deeper level, how the Enteric System (the lining of the guts, also known as the “gut brain”) plays on people’s ability or inability to move freely, and, most importantly, how trauma reacts in the body. I came across an Ortho-Bionomy class by chance and enrolled. After my first class I knew this was my answer to linking mind and body health together. Over the last 9 years I have delved deeply into understanding the play on the nervous system, internal organs, and etheric body with muscle and skeletal organization. Most significantly I have focused my studies on the sympathetic/parasympathetic system (fight or flight) and its’ relationship to the cranial nerves and the role they play in peoples’ health, well -being, and ability to move in incorrect or correct patterns. Ortho and Pilates are a perfect and amazing marriage between two full proof modalities.
WHO AM I… I am a mother of a tween and a teen; I am a wife; I am a self-proclaimed athlete; I am a lover of the outdoors; I am a woman trying to keep it real and stay grounded in this crazy world.
Just Breathe is a tribute to all those who enter its doors…it is a place of healing, a place of being able to safely find an easier way to move, whether it be physically driven or energetically charged…it is a place I have created for those to come and explore their minds and bodies and I look forward to creating that same place for you.
Lee Anna was introduced to Pilates in 1994 after sustaining back and shoulder injuries from her time as a competitive yacht racer.
Pilates and physiatry kept Lee Anna off the operating table and because of that, she has maintained a strict Pilates discipline.
Lee Anna moved to the Roaring Fork Valley eight years ago and started Pilates workouts instructed by Margaret Hjerleid. When Margaret opened Just Breathe Studio in October, 2018 Lee Anna thought in the back of her mind that she would like to work at the studio as an instructor. That day has arrived. She completed her teacher training courses through PhysicalMind Institute of New York, and was fully certified in Pilates Method mat and apparatus February 10, 2020. After 26 years of doing Pilates she is now teaching her love of this holistic form of exercise.
Lee Anna would like to offer to her client’s individual experiences focusing on their unique needs and goals. Her passion lies in helping clients move and strengthen from the inside out, with special emphasis on back and structural issues. She believes that strengthening the body and mind can have a positive impact on one’s overall happiness.
