A note from Margaret Owner, Just Breathe
Just Breathe’s semicolon logo was inspired by Project Semicolon, a Global non-profit movement whose aim is presenting hope and love to those who struggle with mental wellness. It is a project of advocacy for mental health wellness, giving hope and love to those who struggle. It was started by Amy Bleuel, a young woman who struggled with her own depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Its celebration began in 2013, and is recognized globally each year on April 16th.
The Semicolon Trinity is the second stop in the semicolon project – it is the celebration of moving forward-the symbol is ubiquitous through all paths and creeds and is a mark of meaning for hope.
Embedded in Just Breathe’s logo are three silhouettes– a boy, a girl, and a young man. The young man is my brother who, at the age of 28, took his life. Just Breathe is a tribute to him and an inspiration to all who enter our doors… We all have a story of pain, suffering, loss, and we choose to continue on and write the sentences for our lives. At Just Breathe we celebrate everyone, especially those who choose to continue on to seek a life free from hardship, sadness and loss. It is through movement, self-exploration, and self-love that healing can occur. We honor and support each and everyone’s personal journey to happiness and fulfillment.
The author is you and the sentence is your life. Your story is not over yet.
